About Me

FullSizeRender copy-2.jpg

Angela The is a Senior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville majoring in Violin Performance and Public Policy, Criminal Justice Track. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, she takes inspiration from her community at home for their zeal for creative innovation and their unwavering acceptance of all perspectives.

Besides her passion for creative and honest storytelling, she hopes to move people through her challenging questions about the current injustices in the world. Her interests span a broad variety of issues, from the importance of arts access for community identity to improving media literacy in the digital age. However, her most passionate interests lie in criminal justice reform. Influenced by her relationship with Nashville’s own formerly incarcerated population and her work with them since, she aspires to live in a world that practices fair and equal justice. In the future, Angela hopes to continue exploring how crime and incarceration extend their effects on political engagement through either public advocacy law or research.

In her free time, she enjoys photography, listening to NPR podcasts, roadtripping with her friends, and dancing to Sylvan Esso. When she’s not trying to learn something new (her latest attempts include web development and making the perfect marinara sauce), she is probably daydreaming about her life as a nomad, in which she hopes to one day visit every country in the world. She hopes to continue filling her life with chamber music, spoken word readings, the curious beginnings of new friendships, and as always, more questions.
